Marketing / Administrative Intern,

San Gabriel Mission Playhouse

 

Description: Intern needed for part time office work to assist with theater marketing activities. Primary duties will include working on the development of a marketing program for the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse, formerly known as the San Gabriel Civic Auditorium. Projects will include assisting the Managing Director with quarterly event brochures, website development, mailing list development, audience survey development, venue and event publicity, and other activities as needed. Includes research for individual event publicity materials, online research, copying, filing, data entry, and other organizational tasks as needed.

 

The Mission Playhouse: This magnificent and opulent theater was built in 1927 by John Steven McGroarty specifically to present his Mission Play, a production telling the early history of California. Today, the arts come alive in this cultural treasure located in the heart of the historic San Gabriel Mission District. Just minutes from

downtown Los Angeles and 2 miles south of Pasadena, the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse serves the entertainment needs of Southern California’s diverse community. As an active performing arts venue which presents a variety of international talent and events, the theater is host to Musical Theatre, Chinese Opera, Asian dance and music, Ballet Folkloricos of Mexico, Mariachi concerts, exotic dances of India and an array of classical and contemporary music and dance.

Qualifications: Seeking someone interested in learning the nuts and bolts of performing arts marketing. Communications skills, strong organizational ability, flexibility, quick learner, patience, good humor, and an interest in the performing arts is useful and appreciated. General knowledge of Microsoft Word, internet research,

and data entry is a plus. Dependability is important. Qualified candidate will be a college student or recent graduate with a major in English, Communications, Marketing, or Theater Arts. 10+ hours a week with flexible scheduling.
