Chinese American Dancing Group presents A GATHERING TOGETHER In this special performance, dancers and musicians pay tribute to Dr. Jaw John Chang the founder, as well as a dancer and choreographer, of the Chinese-American Dancing Group. Over the last 40 years, Dr Chang founded three other dance groups, ultimately leading to his formation of the America Chinese Dance Association in 1988. He served as President of the association from 1988 to 1990 and in 1997. He is an editor of the syllabus Ten Level Examination in Chinese Dance, and has held the annual Ten Level Examination in Southern California since 1999. Dr. Chang received the 1991 City of Los Angeles Cultural Grant Award and in 1998 was awarded the Flying Phoenix award for his contribution of 60 dance pieces and 10 dance dissertations.
